Rep B Tryouts – What You Need to Know
As we kick off Rep B tryouts at Tri-Centre Jr. Attack, we know families may have questions — especially for those coming from Rep A or trying out for the first time. Below is a quick guide to help you understand the process, expectations, and key details for a smooth and positive tryout experience.

🏒 Rep B Tryouts – What You Need to Know

As the Rep B tryouts begin, here's what you need to know:

🔴 Do I need to register again or pay more if we already tried out for Rep A?
No additional registration or fees are required. Your A tryout registration covers both A and B tryouts. Players will check in and have their registration verified before stepping on the ice.
🔴 Can my child try out for Rep B if they were released from an A team?
Yes! However, players who are already signed (rostered) with a Tri-Centre A team or any other team are not eligible to try out for Rep B.
🔴 Is my child automatically considered for B if they were released from A?
No — all players must attend and participate in the Rep B tryouts to be considered. There is a separate evaluation team and process for B.
🔴 What are the eligible ages for Rep B teams?
Unlike A teams, which are typically composed of players from a single birth year, Rep B teams are formed as double age cohorts. This means each team includes both minor and major players within the age category (e.g., U13 includes both 2013 and 2012 born players). The U18 B team includes players aged 15, 16, and 17.
🔴 What if we can’t make the first tryout?
Please contact the head coach of your age group to inform them of your absence.
🔴 Where can I find the tryout schedule?
You’ll find the full B tryout schedule in our Group Calendar or under your division's Team Webpage Calendar.
🔴 How many tryouts will each team have?
Each team will hold three tryout sessions. However, depending on numbers, some decisions may be made earlier. Coaches aim to provide every player with a fair opportunity to be evaluated.
🔴 What’s the level of competition and commitment for Rep B?
The competition at B will be strong due to our newly formed Partnered Zone concept in the WOAA. Expect fast-paced, quality hockey. B teams will typically have 2.5 hours of practice per week, plus games.
🔴 Will there be multiple Tri-Centre B teams per division?
No, only one B team per age group will be formed out of Tri-Centre Minor Hockey.
🔴 What should my child wear to tryouts?
Players must wear a plain practice jersey with no name bars, just as they did for A tryouts.
🔴 How will communication be handled during tryouts?
Coaches will have the option of communicating directly with players following the on-ice sessions. Coaches will also share communication with players and families by email following each on-ice session. You can also follow updates after each skate on the Tri-Centre Minor Hockey website under each team page.
🔴 What happens if my child is released from B tryouts?
Players not selected are encouraged to join our Local League program, where they can continue to grow their skills, develop their game, and — most importantly — enjoy the game they love.
🔴 Can my child try out for B if we didn’t attend A tryouts?
Yes — just ensure your child is properly registered prior to their first scheduled B ice session.
